Appalachian Ministries Educational Resource Center
Trinity is a member of this ecumenical consortium of theological schools and church
organizations dedicated to preparing church leaders for effective ministry in Appalachia
and other rural areas. AMERC funds educational seminars
that share this objective. Grant money is available to consortium members only, although
participation of individual students from other theological schools is encouraged.
Bexley Hall
Trinity Lutheran Seminary and Bexley Hall (Episcopal) Seminary of
Rochester, New York, work together at Trinity's campus in Columbus
to provide theological education to Lutherans, Episcopalians, and
other denominations. Bexley Hall Columbus is now an accredited extension
site of the Rochester seminary. Anglican ordinands can receive a
M.Div. from Bexley Hall while remaining permanently stationed at
Trinity in a consortium-like arrangement. In this way, Anglican
ordinands will find at Trinity those courses and formation to fully
prepare them for priesthood in the Episcopal Church (see Bexley
Hall in the State of Ohio)
Council for Ethics in Economics
Trinity is an institutional member of the Council for Ethics in Economics, a Columbus-based
organization of representatives from the religious and business communities that is
dedicated to promoting dialogue between those communities about ethical issues in economic
life and developing programs that contribute to greater ethical sensitivity and practice
in the economic sector.
Covenant Cluster Relationship
In response to the church's call for more kinds of theological education and more kinds
of ministry in more contexts, Trinity Lutheran Seminary is a partner with the Lutheran
School of Theology at Chicago and Wartburg Theological Seminary, Dubuque, Iowa, in a
covenant cluster relationship. This relationship allows these three ELCA seminaries to
cooperate in strategic planning for carrying out the church's mission of theological
education. As part of regular course scheduling, certain electives are offered on
interactive video, both to and from the cluster partners.
Institute for Mission in the U.S.A.
The Institute for Mission closed as of December 31, 2002
Theological Consortium of Greater Columbus
The seminary maintains a cooperative arrangement with two nearby theological schools,
the Methodist Theological School in Ohio and the Pontifical College Josephinum, forming
the Theological Consortium of Greater Columbus. The Consortium manages an online joint
catalog for all three schools, providing one of the largest theological collections in
one catalog in North America.
University Affiliations
The seminary has long-standing associations with two nearby schools,
Wittenberg University and
Capital University. Wittenberg
University houses many artifacts of Lutheranism in America. These
are available to the church and the seminary. At Capital University,
seminary students are eligible to use the university facilities
and programs of the adjoining campus. Students enrolled in the Capital
University School of Nursing's Master of Science in Nursing degree
program with a theological concentration take some seminary courses
as part of their study or may concurrently earn Trinity's Master
of Arts in Lay Ministry degree.
